Demonic Venom Lord, commonly referred to as DVL due to his long name, is a character in the Aquablade Chronicles series. He is a Fire/Poison type character who appears in nearly every episode of the Aquablade Chronicles.
Appearance[]
DVL is a predominantly orange, snake-like Pokémon sprite with green marking on his stomach, some green scales around his midsection, and two horn-like extensions coming out of the back of his head. He also has white claws and teeth.
In Aquablade Chronicles: Sunrise, the lower part of his head, stomach, arms, and the front sides of his horn-like extensions are now a lighter shade of orange when compared to the rest of his body. The markings on his stomach now appear to form a grinning "face", and there are also different green markings on his "horns" that resemble bare trees. His sclera are now bright yellow. There are now dark orange markings on his arms that resemble upwards-pointing arrows, his claws are now black, and there are black spikes at the ends of his "horns".
Personality[]
Like most characters, DVL didn't really have a definable personality in the first three seasons of the Aquablade Chronicles, but according to Aquablade11 in his Sunrise Q&A video, in the Sunrise series he is a "calm and collected guy who doesn't panic under pressure" and "an all-around nice person who just wants to help others". In "A Thirst for Knowledge", he is the only member of the Elite Four to be actively opposed to an all-out invasion of Zukanov so that the inhabitants of Kruxor could move there since the sun of Kruxor has disappeared.
History[]
Moves[]
Pre-Sunrise[]
Demonic Venom[]
Demonic Venom is a Poison-move that badly poisons an enemy, as well as lowering Attack and Special Attack.
DVL likely learned it after figuring out the meaning of his name (Demonic Venom Lord) as Aquablade did to learn Water Blast.
Pyro Tackle[]
Pyro Tackle is a Fire-type move that is about as powerful as Flare Hawk's Lava Pit. It doesn't have any known side effects.
Heat Up[]
When active, the whole party's attacks get a 1.5x multiplier and a slight chance of inflicting burn that stays up until DVL faints or the battle ends. Opponents that use physical attacks on the party while they are Heated Up also take a bit of damage from touching the fire.
Lava Shield[]
Completely protects DVL and another party member for a turn. It always fails against Water-type moves and lets Fire-type moves through to activate DVL's Flash Fire ability.
Sunrise[]
Pyro Tackle[]
A powerful physical Fire-typed move that has a chance of inflicting Burn. It is essentially a physical variant of Flamethrower.
Lava Shield[]
Functions identically to Protect, but it protects one other ally in addition to DVL. However, it fails to protect against Water attacks. It also has a 50% failure rate when used repeatedly.
Heat Up[]
DVL and all allies attain the "Heat Up" status for 5 turns, which does the following:
- all attacks have a 1.25x increase in power
- any foe that uses a move that makes contact will take damage equal to 1/8th of their max HP, 1/4th if they are weak to Fire, or 1/16th if they resist it
- foe will also receive the Burn status unless they are Fire-typed
Toxic Crunch[]
A stronger version of Poison Fang with a 100% chance of badly poisoning, unless the foe is Poison- or Steel-typed.

Trivia[]
- DVL's Lava Shield never failed onscreen.
- DVL was the only one out of Aquablade's sprites to be constantly on his side. In fact, the only time he fought against Aquablade was when he was mind controlled in the Salavaur battle.
